THE PARTY OF THE MILLENNIUM

Organising a party should be fun. Budget and how many guests you plan to invite have to be primary considerations. But once this is decided, you can select a suitable venue and start
planning the details; the touches that will make your party or event truly unique.

Having the occasion in a hotel has several benefits. Firstly, you are likely to be appointed a dedicated party planner who will help you through every stage of organising your event. At Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (with 7 hotels across London and 13 others across the UK)
we always ensure you have a dedicated team-member ready to assist in every way that they
can. This individual will have a depth of knowledge about the venue and a wealth of experience organising similar functions, as well as having a checklist of what can be – and needs to be -
done, ensuring that nothing is forgotten and your event is as perfect as you could want it to be.

Theming, however small the numbers, provides a focal point for the occasion. This can
range from colour co-ordinating the chair and table coverings with the flowers, to decorating
the entire room.

Choosing the food has to be top priority. If you are having a theme, it should be considered
when selecting the food so that they can complement one another. You also need to decide whether a buffet or sit down meal is more appropriate for the occasion.

If you plan to have dancing or a disco, the chances are that this will be in the same room as
where you are eating and so this has to be considered. Does anyone need to make a speech?
Are you having entertainment? The timing of all this needs to be incorporated into the schedule
to ensure a smooth-running and enjoyable occasion. You also need to decide whether you are having a drinks reception first, if so, do you want canapés served?

It is advisable to have a tasting of the menu you have chosen. This way, you are assured of exactly what you are getting, and equally importantly, the presentation. At this point, if you are holding your event at a Millennium & Copthorne Hotel, you would still be able to change any of
the dishes on the menu that you wanted to.

Although the venue is responsible for staffing, to be sure they have enough people on duty,
there are things that they need to know; is it likely that all the guests will be arriving together
or at different times? Do any of your guests have special requirements?

Venues usually have a list of preferred suppliers that they have an established relationship with, and who they know are reliable. Using their contacts such as a particular florist or audio-visual company, can make life much easier for you. In addition, this often means that you can make all arrangements and payments via the hotel. However, if you prefer to use your own contacts, the venue in question is sure to be extremely accommodating.

An added bonus to having a party at a hotel is that your guests can stay at the venue where the party is being held. This way, everyone can relax and enjoy the event, without worrying about
how they are going to get home.

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels have 20 hotels throughout the UK - seven of which are in London
– all with stylish party and event spaces available for hire all year round.
